Abstract

Ganglion is one of the most common soft tissue tumors which is generated by mucoid egeneration of the joint capsule, tendon or tendon sheath. It usually occurs in the hand and wrist, but it can also occur in any part of extremities. For the most part, symptoms are mild in patients with pain and nerve compression, but for those who do not respond to conservative treatment or who are undergoing cosmetic problems, operative treatment can be indicated. Intratendinous ganglion is a very rare lesion of unknown etiology. It originates within the tendon and causes soft tissue swelling. We report one case of ganglion that arose within the extensor digitorum communis of the ring finger. Treatment consisted of excision of the ganglion, which was followed by meticulous repair of the tendon.
